Patchwork Stripes - Fused Glass - Large Angled Square - Multi Colours

Patchwork Stripes builds upon the earlier Stripes series, transforming a simple linear concept into a dynamic, abstract composition. Handcrafted from sheet glass and delicate 1mm glass stringers, the work begins as a precise, ribbon-like lattice that is fused together through several carefully controlled kiln firings. Once cooled, the fused panel is cut into uniform squares, which are then repositioned into an off-kilter pattern that feels both ordered and spontaneous.

For this particular piece, select squares have been replaced with textured, iridescent glass. The iridescence adds a subtle shimmer that catches the eye and accentuates the vibrant palette of the surrounding squares. The interplay of transmitted light and the shadows cast by the angled composition is striking; as daylight moves across the room, the artwork comes alive, revealing ever-changing highlights and depth that become integral to its presence.

The result is a truly handmade work, its layers of firing and hand-cut details evident in every facet. Patchwork Stripes offers a tactile, visual rhythm that shifts with the light, making it a compelling focal point for any space.
