Aztec - New Collection

This series of artworks are inspired by Aztec art. Each piece has been meticulously constructed using moulds and fired three times in a kiln, with stages of cold workings and polishing between firings to refine the final form.

Each design is built using individual tiny hand cut pieces of rectangular glass, arranged in repeating and symmetrical patterns. An approach that reflects the geometric precision, a sense of order and balance, that is often found in traditional Aztec design.

Bold and vibrant colours such as reds, blues and yellows prominently feature, echoing the intense and symbolic palette of ancient Aztec art. I have further enhanced the visual language of my pieces by the addition of tinted colours.
